It’s about the raw desire creeping inside you and the guts to bring that out. This movie has all the basic ingredients for modern day audience. If you watch the movie with a positive notion then everything would seem good but with negativity, the movie will appear to be filled with flaws. The Rockstar movie is delight to watch, soothing to listen and the humorous “desi” dialogues add tons of fun.
The Rockstar Movie has “Janardan Jakhar” as the lead character played by Ranbir Kapoor. The female lead is Nargis Faqri playing “Heer”, a Kashmeeri girl. Janardan is a diehard fan of Jim Morrison and aspires to be like him while Heer is a “serial heartbreaker” in the college. The canteen owner of Janardan’s college preaches him that all the big names have made it after facing the intense atrocities of life. In the pursuit of heartbreak, he proposes Heer who eventually denies. Pretending to be in a state of depression, he returns to his beloved “Canteen”. The awkward proposals lead to their friendship and a series of wild things strengthen their bond. The lady has a schedule for her marriage and “Jakhar” goes with her to assist in the arrangements. The story takes a turn from there as Heer declaring her love to Janardan. She is married and flies to Prague, what follows her are remorse and desperations.
Janardan now “Jordan” returns to his home; beaten, scolded and thrashed, he accepts his family business. He is thrown out of his house on account of “robbing” the business money. The turn comes to his life, being homeless and hungry; he takes shelter at a “Dargah”. After two odd months, he returns to his café owner and from there the journey of a Rockstar begins. He becomes a solo performer and as a performer flies to Prague, where he meets Heer. The wild fantasies and deep shredded desires again evolve and the couple keeps on accomplishing them. The story continues and a series of heartbreak, remorse and reunion follows.
The whole story runs in flashback and the strings between the sequences are smooth and flawless. Imtiaz Ali is emerging as a narrator with different methodology and the direction is appreciable. This music has been decorated with the music of A.R. Rahman, which is touching and soulful. The “Sufi” “Kun Faaya Kun” song and the head-banging rocker “Sadda Haque” are completely different in composition and presentation. After the release, the Rockstar rating is surging, owing to the power packed performance from Ranbir Kapoor.
